A true Canadian boy that never played ice hockey as a kid! Wait, what?
Born close to Toronto, baseball in the summers and indoor basketball leagues in the winters sums up how I spent most of my free time. Although, I have to admit, there was lots of road-hockey happening on the neighborhood street, summer or winter! After graduating a Chemistry concurrent Education program in Northern Ontario, I decided to get some teaching experience and followed a few friends to Korea to teach a few years of ESL before finding a Science position. Interesting enough, it was in Korea where I truly learned of my love of ice hockey. What a game! Through a small but tight hockey community in Seoul, I have met incredible friends and played in once-in-a-lifetime tournaments in Russia, Mongolia and China and Korea. Recently stepping away from a terrific school and position was difficult however, I am enjoying a few new challenges. I'm engaged in learning the Korean language, both the moments of frustration and accomplishment. Additionally, I am pursuing a life long interest in furthering my financial investment knowledge and have just started writing a novel! During the summer of 2015, I accomplished a life-long goal to perform on stage with a band. This may not seem like much but, for a guy with next to ZERO musical talent, I think it's quite an accomplishment. If you catch me at a moment of weakness, I might even show you some of the footage. I have also recently decided to attempt writing a book. In hindsight this may turnout to be the easiest part of the process. After actually completing the novel, finding someone to read may well be the most difficult. Since a teenager, I have had an interest in the stock market. I am currently learning to profitably trade the Korea stock exchange (KOSPI) as well as Bitcoins based on technical analysis. Despite a decrepit attempt to brew my own beer in our university dormitory, last year I tried to rekindle the magic. Far more research and sanitary caution surprisingly made little improvement. I will likely try again, although it may be best to outsource this hobby. My favorite pastime is getting involved in team sports. I really enjoy the camaraderie of a good group of friends having some fun, competing and getting some exercise. Top on my list would have to be ice hockey however, I enjoy a variety of sports including softball, volleyball, bocceball and golf to name a few. My wife and I are enjoying the adventure that is life, good times and bad. Maybe we'll see you soon! |
